Our realtor client wanted to make her home more family-friendly so she brought us in to design a craft room, play room and update her kitchen. The kids spaces are the first rooms you see when you walk into the home, so she wanted them to be functional yet visually appealing. With this in mind, we chose durable materials, storage solutions and soft colors. As a focal point, we decided on a whimsical wallpaper as the backdrop of the craft room with a grey custom cabinet with brass hardware. In this room, we included a buffalo check machine-washable rug that is fun yet sophisticated.
In the playroom, we chose a modular sofa that can be re-arranged and a dedicated reading nook with books on display. We added brass wall sconces for soft lighting in this room that had no light before. On either side of the tv, we selected bookcases with bins for toys. For the kitchen, we made minor updates that made a large impact. By removing the standard builder finishes, we installed new lighting, backsplash, a custom hood and cabinet hardware. We brought in warmth with textured counter stools. By tweaking these design details, the kitchen now has character.
